An Inspired School

As a school growing in numbers we now also need to grow in size and facilities. We are therefore delighted to announce that in September 2020 we inaugurated our new second campus in La Moraleja, just a 5 minute walk from our existing school site.

The new building is a dedicated Infant School, especially for students age 2 (Pre-Nursery) to age 7 (Year 2), offering a space where from a very early age children are encouraged to become independent learners and have fun as they acquire new skills.

Children attending the new Infant school will automatically gain a place at the existing campus where they can continue their education from Year 3 until Year 11 (age 16).

THE SITE: The learning environment is an essential component of the curriculum for infant children.

CAMPUS KING COLLEGE LA MORALEJA
  • Classes from Pre-Nursery through to Year 2.
  • We are creating enabling environments both indoors and out that will make toddlers and infants feel welcome, safe, secure and ready to learn.
  • Our approach to early childhood education recognises the tremendous impact of the environment by referring to it as the “third teacher”.
  • We know that the infant learning environment must provide a flexible climate that supports child-directed practices, spontaneous exploration, curiosity, motivation for learning and the creation and maintenance of positive relationships between adults and children.
  • Complete revamp of the building
  • Utilising the natural environment to develop a ‘forest school’ area and include a grass area as part of the playground.
  • To create outdoor spaces that can be used in all weathers.
  • Free flow indoor/outdoor.
  • Recommended specialist spaces.

BENEFITS & FEATURES

Mood boards and interior design

We consider the environment to be the sum of all spatial and sensory qualities including the architecture, furnishings and immaterial qualities (colour, light, materials and acoustics).

Our goal in this campus expansion is that every part of the school represents a possible territory of learning; a landscape of flexible settings that support the development of an innovative education from Pre-school through to the Primary stages. We have considered a number of areas to provide the best environment for our students and teachers. (Michele Zini, ZPZ Partners)

Atelier and Digital Atelier

We believe the workspaces for our students is key for exploration of concepts and perspectives. Each class space will be established to reflect the age group that will be using the space and all children will have access to the specialized ‘Ateliers’.

  • The presence of the ateliers supports a transdisciplinary approach to experimental learning
  • The digital atelier is a space where technology and furniture supports the development of 3D landscapes of video projections and computer created drawings
  • Children will have the chance to use their imagination, and use technology to consider concepts such as transformation and perspective

Multisensorality

  • The aim is to create spaces that can be perceived and used by all five senses
  • A vast range of materials, textures, grains and light sources will be used to support the environment

Furniture and colour

  • All furniture is conceived according to children’s age and their degree of autonomy
  • Furniture plays a key-role in making the space “the third teacher”, it is an important educational tool, foster innovation and uniqueness.
  • We have also created a unique colour concept, where the shell will feature white walls and wood features, where furniture will include pops of colour, without primary hues and bright nuances

  • Outstanding teachers will deliver a stimulating and exciting curriculum as well as build safe and secure relationships with the children.
  • Our Pre-Nursery team will support the natural desire of toddlers to actively explore their environment with their whole body by knowing about this age group’s development to enable them to predict what interactions, materials and experiences will be safe, engaging and most supportive to best promote learning and development.
  • Our enhanced curriculum will be complemented by the nature of the site.
