At King's College La Moraleja, our team of educators, support staff, and leaders are all fully committed to providing the best learning experience and assistance to every student. 

Our teaching staff are the backbone of our educational offer, supporting and challenging learners to reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. As a result of excellent tuition, preparation, and individualised guidance, our students achieve exceptional grades in external examinations.

All our educators are highly experienced and qualified, with many holding degrees from top universities worldwide, including Oxford and Cambridge. Additionally, many of our teachers possess master’s degrees in education. Most of our teaching staff are native English speakers, while those teaching in Spanish are native Spanish speakers. Furthermore, our extracurricular coaches and teachers are carefully selected as the best in their fields.

Mrs June Donnan

Head of School


Mrs Donnan is very proud to be the Headteacher of King’s College School in La Moraleja, having had a 35-year journey dedicated to inspiring and shaping young minds. 

For nearly three decades, she has been an integral part of the King’s Group Schools, holding a Master of Arts (MA) and a Master of Education (MEd) alongside achieving the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). She has also led Inspired Leadership courses globally, sharing her expertise and passion for educational excellence. The core of her educational ethos lies not only in ensuring excellent academic results but also in her deep commitment to the development of both students and staff, as well as fostering meaningful relationships within our school community. 

Accredited as a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) trainer, she is dedicated to the wellbeing and mental health of all. She has lived in Madrid with her Spanish husband and daughter for more than thirty years and looks forward to meeting you when you visit our school.

Mrs Laura Murphy

Deputy Head


Mrs Murphy joined King's College La Moraleja in February 2023 after several years at top schools in the UK. She previously worked as a Housemaster at Westminster School and was also involved in leading English Departments at City of London, Freemen's and Whitgift School, Croydon.

Prior to moving into education, Mrs Murphy also worked as a corporate lawyer after originally graduating from Cambridge University in English Literature. Having spent her early childhood in Tenerife, she very much enjoys having returned to Spain, where she continues to pursue her interests in literature, culture and golf.

Ms Sarah Garrison

Head of Secondary


Ms Garrison joined King’s College School, La Moraleja in August 2022 as Head of Secondary after spending nine years at our sister school, King’s College Soto de Viñuelas.

She initially joined KC Soto as a Head of Department, progressing to become Head of Faculty - Creative Arts after a spell as Acting Head and then Deputy Head of Boarding.

Ms Garrison obtained her Postgraduate Certificate in Education from UCL’s Institute of Education, followed by six years of teaching experience in London state schools teaching English, Drama and Media Studies. She is passionate about Arts education and ensuring all Secondary students leave school as independent, global citizens.

As Head of Secondary, she is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Secondary School whilst overseeing the pastoral academic needs of the students. In her spare time, Ms. Garrison enjoys cooking, attending theatre productions and mountain walking in the nearby Sierra de Guadarrama.

Ms Alison Entwistle

Head of Primary


Ms Entwistle has worked in King's College Schools for over 8 years, joining La Moraleja in 2020, prior to which she taught at our sister school, King’s College Soto de Viñuelas as a Head of Key Stage, before progressing to become the Head of Primary here.

Having qualified in French and German in her MFL degree from Durham University, adding Spanish to her roster in her free time, she then went on to study for a Master's at University College London.

As the Head of Primary, she is responsible for running that whole section of the school, from leading her team to delivering the very best in British education, ensuring student welfare and celebrating the achievements of all children, within and beyond the classroom.

Mr Nick Cairns

Director of Studies


Mr Cairns started at King’s College School in 2019, joining from St Edmund’s College. He read Biology & Chemistry at Durham and completed research into antibiotics at Norwich Research Park before moving into teaching. During this time he represented his associated universities in Judo and Ballroom Dance.

As Director of Studies, Mr Cairns is responsible for assessment, the school timetable, examinations and school communications in addition to a number of academic departments. He is an avid scuba diver and has keen interests in climbing, hiking and (perhaps inevitably) spreadsheets.
